Margaret MacGregor

MD, FAANS, FACS

Dr. Margaret MacGregor is a native of Morris County, New Jersey.  She attended Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts where she graduated with honors. She received a Fulbright Grant in physical chemistry, and studied at the Universität Hamburg in Germany.  She attended UMDNJ New Jersey Medical School (now Rutgers) and completed her neurosurgical training at Loyola University in Maywood, Illinois.  Dr. MacGregor has practiced in the Nashville area for nine years after serving the Springfield, Illinois area for over seventeen.

In Springfield, she worked in the private sector as well as being a clinical assistant professor in both neurosurgery and neurology at The Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. She is board certified in neurosurgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

When not practicing neurosurgery Dr. MacGregor likes to spend time with her family, horses, and dogs.  Her son is an accomplished rider now in his second year of college.  She is an internationally known breeder of award winning Trakehner horses with success both in the U.S. and abroad. Dr. MacGregor is fluent in German and loves to speak it when she meets people who also know the language. She and her husband love Nashville and all the state of Tennessee has to offer. She often says, “I am thrilled to be here (in Tennessee)”!
